STORAGE: a service where data is remotely maintained, managed, and backed up. The service allows the users to store files online so that they can access them from any location via the internet.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • What is your current Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan?
  • Do you want to implement BYOD (bring your own device)?
  • Does your organization have compliance requirements?
  • What is your backup solution?
  • What applications are you running today?

SECURITY: Cloud and mobile have stretched traditional perimeters of networks beyond firewalls’ protective capabilities. Firewalls cannot prevent attacks when perimeters are breached and are ineffective against attacks from within. Smaller organizations are now just as likely to be attacked as larger ones because they are easier targets, they are more likely to pay ransomware threats, and may provide a back door into other organizations.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Do you regularly assess your security posture?
  • How does your company effectively manage ongoing threats and vulnerabilities?
  • What are your biggest security concerns and does the staff have the budget and expertise to address them?
  • have you recently done a security review on your people, processes, or technology?
  • Have you adopted any cloud-based applications and if so, do you know what risks that has created?
  • Does your organization limit information system access to authorized users, processes, or devices?
  • Do you have a contingency plan in case of an emergency or disaster?
  • Do you limit physical access to systems, equipment, and operating environments to only authorized individuals?
